Ingredients
- 1 (10-12 oz) frozen pound cake, thawed and cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 lbs fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 pint fresh blueberries
- 2 (8 oz) containers frozen whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed, or 4 cups homemade whipped cream
Instructions
- Arrange about half of the pound cake cubes in the bottom of a large glass trifle bowl (about 3-quart capacity). Ensure an even layer.
- Spread about half of the sliced strawberries over the pound cake layer, followed by half of the fresh blueberries.
- Carefully spread one container (or 2 cups) of the thawed whipped topping evenly over the fruit layer.
- Repeat the layers: add the remaining pound cake cubes, followed by the rest of the strawberries and blueberries.
- Top with the remaining container (or 2 cups) of whipped topping, spreading it smoothly over the top layer of fruit.
- Garnish the top with a few extra whole strawberries and blueberries for a beautiful patriotic finish.
- Cover the trifle and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld and the cake to soften slightly. Best served chilled.
