Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (100g) packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup (75g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (170g) chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
- Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well combined and smooth.
- Whisk in the eggs one at a time, until fully incorporated. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers still look slightly soft. The tops will have a crackled appearance.
- Immediately after removing from the oven, sprinkle each cookie lightly with flaky sea salt.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. This helps them set and retain their fudgy texture.
